About the Author - George Margolin - and why By George Margolin, editor@netsurfernews.com
WHO -- WHAT -- WHEN -- WHERE -- HOW Who, What, When, Where and How, are the first words young journalists are taught, which should be -- they are told -- in the beginning of all of their news stories. They are commonly known as the five W’s -- yes, there’s even a W in "hoW." So -- we’ll start with them. Who is -- George Margolin, Former Technical Editor of Popular Photography Magazine - during its prime circulation years of 500,000 copies per month. He is also a former Photo Journalist and photographer who did work for some of the great magazines, Life and Time among others. And he is the inventor of the Front Projection Background System used in such films as 2001, 2010, the Superman Films, the James Bond films and many Walt Disney films, among others. Smaller versions of this device have been used for more than 30 years in photographic studios all over the world for instantly interchangeable fashion, wedding, portrait and product backgrounds. What is -- writing a story on how great the new multi-megapixel Digicams are for portraiture (along with just about anything else photographic). When is -- It’s happening Right Here, Right Now ,on This page. But -- the training for it started during the last Century (THE LAST CENTURY?) Yup! More than a month ago. Ok -- a few Decades ago when he was a working photographer and photo journalist. How is -- He’ll be showing the hows and whys of just a few of the hundreds of people pix and portraits he’s shot with the new Epson 850Z Digital Camera since he borrowed it at the COMDEX show in November 99. But now we’ll add a Sixth W -- "Why is?" -- Because George believes that the new high quality, multi-megapixel cameras, like the Epson 850Z used here, and other even higher resolution devices -- are changing and will change portrait photography more than even the great introduction of Kodachrome in the 1930s or the single lens reflexes of the late 50s.
